HELLO I’M WHITLEY WATSON
To the left you will find a picture of me. I am an art director and producer who works across print, video, web an social. I like helping mission-oriented companies and individuals stand out from the crowd. Please find examples of my work below and feel free to reach out with any inquiries.
CLUB VIDEO
I lead a small team of collaborators to create all of the visual materials for the five year run of this alt-comedy film screening series. We created print and social promotional materials, web ads for ticket and merch sales, and designed three sold out runs of T-shirts. Taking place in a working ware house and dedicated to DIY principles, the show’s aesthetic was always bold and irreverent with handmade touches.
SOCIAL MEDIA
I produce, direct and edit viral social media videos, primarily for comedians.
MOBILE APPS
I designed the UX/UI for two app prototypes. Fete, a social network based party planing app aimed at Gen Z ,and Temple, a customizable daily meditation app.
NEW YORK TELEVISION
I work with a small team on this fledgling 24/7 streaming channel. I produce shows and help maintain a visual aesthetic that recalls a simpler media landscape of the early internet, public access, the grit of nyc and a good deal of mystery.
ATTACK MODE DELUXE
I designed print and web materials as well as two video ads for this all woman (and their token man host) comedy collective. Pulling from girl biker gangs from teh 1960s and a John Water’s sense of camp we sold out three large shows.
MUSIC VIDEOS AND SHORT FILMS
I produce, direct and art direct short films and music video. My work has been featured in the Jist for Laughs Comedy Festival, NoBudge Streaming Channel and in Vulture’s Funniest Shorts of the Month series. I made the isntallation video for the scene in John Wick II where he fights people in an art gallery.
GRAPHIC DESIGN AND ILLUSTRATION
I design posters, brand materials, logos and spot illustrations.
NONLINE
I produced and designed this print only magazine focused on the everyday style of creative people. We sold out a entire 200 copy run.
